Cost checklist
Ask for the whole bill, then compare
Suppose a page shows an appealing monthly price. You are comparing care from Cave Creek, but the small print mentions a membership. What will actually leave your account?
Ask for a written total with each item named. Ask how the charges change when an offer finishes, what you pay if no prescription is written, and how cancellation works.

Keep the care fee and medicine apart
Fact
Among online weight-care pages checked on September 26, 2026, memberships were common and the medicine was usually charged separately.
Ask for separate lines for the first visit, repeat visits, any membership, tests, the medicine and delivery. Ask which lines are included and which could be added.
An introductory price is only a starting point
As of September 26, 2026, an Ozempic pen offer starts at $199 for a monthly supply. Ozempic contains semaglutide. The offer is for new patients who are adults living in the US and pay without using insurance. Only certain lower-strength pens qualify.
That introductory offer covers only the first two fills and runs through December 31, 2026.
After those fills, the medicine price is $349 or $499 a month, depending on how much medicine the pen supplies.
This cash offer cannot be claimed back from insurance or counted toward an insurance deductible, the amount paid before cover begins.
Ask the pharmacist whether the exact pen on your prescription qualifies and what it will cost after the offer ends. These prices cover the medicine; ask separately about visits, tests and other care fees.
The list price is a maker's published price. The cash price and the amount paid through insurance are different kinds of price.

Ask the plan what it will pay
Give your insurer the exact medicine, form and reason for the prescription. Ask whether it is on the plan's covered-drug list and whether approval is needed first.
Regular Medicare drug coverage, as checked September 26, 2026, leaves out medicines used for weight loss; coverage may be possible for another accepted medical use.
Being eligible for coverage does not guarantee that a particular plan will pay.
GLP-1 is a name used for a group of weight and diabetes medicines.
The separate Medicare GLP-1 Bridge offers eligible people a $50 monthly patient payment for selected weight medicines during a period beginning July 1, 2026 and ending December 31, 2027.
As of September 26, 2026, this programme is for adults in certain Medicare drug plans who meet checks for body weight and other health problems. People with type 2 diabetes are not eligible for this programme; they can ask their regular Medicare drug plan about coverage instead. A person whose Medicare drug plan paid for a GLP-1 medicine during 2026 cannot use the programme in 2026. A prescription is required. The programme must agree to cover the medicine before you can get its price; this is called prior approval.
As checked September 26, 2026, the programme payment is left out when counting what you pay toward the yearly limit under regular Medicare drug coverage. It does not help you reach that limit for your other covered medicines. Coupons cannot be added to the programme's price.
Ask your prescriber to check your health and Medicare plan against all the programme rules and submit the approval request. Ask the programme to confirm approval and the price before paying.
